A la fin de son texte E. Saïd nous rappelait que « La thèse du Choc des civilisations est un gadget comme La Guerre des mondes, plus efficace pour renforcer un orgueil défensif que pour accéder à une compréhension critique de la stupéfiante interdépendance de notre époque. »

At the end of his text Edward Saïd reminds us that « “The Clash of Civilizations” thesis is a gimmick like “The War of the Worlds,” better for reinforcing defensive self-pride than for critical understanding of the bewildering interdependence of our time. »
