نظم أهالي معتمدية منزل حبيب و معتمدية الحامة، يوم الإثنين 10 ديسمبر، إضرابا عاما. سبقته وقفة احتجاجية لحملة Stop pollution، يوم 7 ديسمبر، أمام المسرح البلدي بالعاصمة. تأتي هذي التحركات احتجاجا على مماطلة السلطة في فك ونقل وحدات المجمع الكيميائي بقابس، واختيارها معتمدية منزل حبيب كمكان جديد لتركيز المجمع دون إستشارة الأهالي. يذكر أن المجمع الكيميائي بقابس تم تركيزه سنة 1972، وهو مصدر التلوث بالجهة.
منذ إنشائه قبل حوالي 45 سنة، يشكل المركب الكيميائي بقابس خطرا بيئيا وتهديدا صحيا لآلاف المواطنين بالجهة. وفي ظل وجود عديد التحركات المواطنية المطالبة بإزالة هذا المركّب أو نقله إلى خارج المناطق السكنية على الأقل، يبرز رأي مخالف مفاده أن المركب الكيميائي بقابس هو مصدر التنمية في الجهة والمشغل الأول لأهالي الجهة، وأن إزالته أو نقله هو بمثابة الحكم على أبناء قابس بالبطالة والفقر. مريم دزيري، ناشطة في حملة “stop pollution” بقابس، تتحدث لموقع نواة عن الحلول البديلة للمجمع الكيميائي، والتي توازن بين توفير مواطن الشغل وتحقيق التنمية من جهة وبين احترام الطبيعة والحق في بيئة سليمة من جهة أخرى.
غادرنا صبيحة هذا اليوم، المناضل البيئي نادر شكيوة، رئيس جمعية حماية واحة شط السلام بقابس، بعد صراع مع المرض. و بذلك تكون ساحة النضال من أجل الحقوق البيئية قد خسرت أحد أبرز اعلامها. خاصةً و أن الفقيد عرف بإستماتته في النضال من أجل ألحق في بيئة نظيفة و مناهضته للتلوث الذي يسببه المجمع الكيميائي بقابس. هذا و قد سبق لموقع نواة أن حاور الفقيد في شهر آفريل الفارط، في إطار تحقيق يتناول مشكلة التلوث بجهة قابس.
Une marche vers la zone industrielle de Gabès a eu lieu vendredi 30 juin 2017, échéance retenue pour l’arrêt du déversement de phosphogypse dans la mer. Le même jour, la décision du gouvernement est tombée : les usines polluantes du Groupe Chimique Tunisien seront délocalisées d’ici 8 ans et demi. Sur place, qu’en pensent les acteurs des mouvements sociaux ?
Le 30 juin 2017 est la date butoir donnée par les habitants de Gabès au Groupe chimique tunisien pour cesser de rejeter le phosphogypse dans la mer. Avec le soutien des associations et collectifs locaux, les habitants prévoient d’organiser une grève générale, menacent de bloquer eux-mêmes le déversement, de fermer tout le complexe industriel, comme ils l’ont fait en 2013. From the center of Gabes, a 365-degree view of the city offers a stunning panorama of the world’s only seaside oasis, an urban setting scattered with green-grey palm trees, a blue-grey sea, and, jutting up from the main port, the Tunisian Chemical Group’s sky-high factory topped by thick plumes of smoke. It is a grey December morning on the weekend of Gabes’ short-film festival, “Life is short.” Even in the midst of a three-day cultural event animated by film directors, artists, university students, and cinephiles, the unsettling omnipresence of the factory close by inspires the festival’s title with sharp irony.
For its stopover in Tunisia, the Ibn Battuta Odyssey of Alternatives, a mobilization across the Mediterranean which culminates at the COP22 in Marrakech, set up camp in Gabes, although the boats had docked in Bizerte. Three days of exchanges and debates concerning an environmentally- and socially-destructive economic model and potential alternatives drew attention to the deplorable environmental situation in Gabes, and were marked by heightened tension following the death of a STEG worker who was asphyxiated by the fumes of the industrial zone. L’escale tunisienne de l’Odyssée des alternatives Ibn Battûta, une mobilisation itinérante à travers la Méditerranée pour rejoindre la COP22 à Marrakech, a eu lieu à Gabès, bien que les bateaux aient accosté à Bizerte. Ce temps d’échanges et de débats autour d’un modèle économique polluant, humainement destructeur et autour des alternatives a permis de braquer l’attention sur la situation environnementale déplorable de Gabès, dans une période tendue, marquée par la mort d’un ouvrier de la STEG asphyxié par des émanations de la zone industrielle.
