Attached is an open letter, issued Monday 25 March, to Tunisian President Marzouki, Speaker Ben Jaafar and Premier Larayed, in which the National Syndicate of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT), the National Authority to Reform Information and Communication (INRIC) and the General Syndicate of Culture and Information hold President Marzouki and his advisers “accountable for the prevarication and delaying tactics that have marked the process of setting up” of the Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HAICA). They also “denounce the interference of the three ruling parties in this matter that is supposed to be above political frictions and partisan calculations”. Furthermore they assert their “position of rejecting any membership of the HAICA that is not fully in conformity with the conditions and criteria provided in decree-law 116, and decision to boycott such an authority and take the matter to the administrative court.”
