قضت مساء اليوم محكمة الناحية بأريانة بسجن المخرجة إيناس بن عثمان لمة شهرين نافذين مع تخطئتها بالمليم الرمزي على خلفية القضية التي كانت قد رفعت ضدها من طرف نائبة رئيس مركز أمن بحي النصر. وقد شهدت محكمة الناحية بأريانة صباح اليوم الأربعاء حالة من التوتر خلال الجلسة المخصصة لمحاكمة المخرجة السينمائية إيناس بن عثمان بتهمة هضم حق موظف عمومي، وقد قضت القاضية برفع الجلسة قبل استكمالها.

In Tunisia’s capital, days before the November 23 presidential elections, the three candidates whose faces appear most frequently across media outlets and whose names are mentioned most often in conversation are Beji Caid Essebsi, Moncef Marzouki, and Hamma Hammami.
Les législatives viennent à peine de s’achever, et la HAICA s’apprête à publier son deuxième rapport relatif au pluralisme politique au sein des médias audiovisuels. Au cours d’un interview que M. Riadh Ferjani, membre de ladite HAICA, a bien voulu nous accorder, le jeudi 30 octobre 2014, nous avons profité pour lui poser une question relative à ce rapport. Sans rentrer dans les détails de ses conclusions -la publication du rapport étant imminente-, nous avons, tout du moins, souhaité obtenir quelques indications sur les tendances en la matière.
Un reportage photo incluant aussi bien les journalistes de Nawaat que ceux qui ont croisé le regard de nos objectifs au centre de presse de l’ISIE, tard le soir des élections législatives du 26 octobre 2014. Tous étaient en quête de chiffres… Mais les résultats des votes, y compris préliminaires, furent bien rares. Et c’est d’autant plus regrettable que l’alinéa deux de l’article 140 de la loi n° 16-2014 prescrit pourtant cette mise à disposition -à la fin des opérations de dépouillements- en ces termes :“Les procès-verbaux des dépouillements des résultats des bureaux de vote sont publiés sur le site internet de [l’ISIE].”

Affiliated Tunisian institions and, by extension, Tunisian media, generally sparing in their (public) treatment of issues concerning foreign investment in the energies and hydrocarbon sectors, may in this case be spudding a more valuable “pontential large discovery” than that which has been so vastly and insouciantly associated with Circle Oil’s operations in Tunisian oilfields.

It is perhaps owing to the urgency of his message, the grave threats that political instability in Libya and regional terrorism pose to Tunisia’s political climate in these next three months, the potential dissipation of a democratic alliance in the MENA region, the very straightforward request for military training and equipment, and more specifically twelve Black Hawk helicopters, that Marzouki’s appeal has been so widely diffused across US and international media outlets.
What is pertinent to note is that Marzouki’s request is the precipitous disbursal of materials that the US has already promised Tunisia.

As hightened political instability in Libya threatens to permeate the region, Tunisian media and political figures are preoccupied with issues at the borders and beyond, whereas few are looking inward to the geographical, social, economic factors associated with terrorism.
It is the transgression from the notion of censorship as a right and protection against physical and verbal violence that Tunisia’s legislative body must now recalibrate in order to advance in this period designated as democratic transition. That Tunisian law adheres to international standards is not merely insufficient, but ill-fitted, unconstructive, and myopic if compliance with international conventions translates into the copy-paste importation of text and a lack of contextualization and comparative analysis.
