Tout cela pour avoir, au final, dix personnes qui ramassent du plastique », ironise le président de la Fédération Nationale des Communes Tunisiennes (FNCT). « L’initiative vise à ancrer la culture environnementale. La propreté est un effort quotidien qu’il faut déployer à vie », rétorque un responsable du ministère.
La bande côtière de la Tunisie s’étendant sur 1.300 km est l’une des premières richesses du pays. Une ressource mise en péril par la pollution. Chaque année, le ministère de la Santé publie une liste de plages interdites à la baignade. L’ONAS est pointée du doigt. Des analyses révèlent la présence de germes fécaux à des concentrations importantes. Et le laisser-faire n’incite guère les unités industrielles à limiter leurs rejets polluants.
Toute perturbation de l’environnement où vit un poisson peut provoquer des réactions dans son comportement. Il peut même changer physiquement. Le sar, menacé dans son habitat naturel, exprime son stress par le développement d’un comportement agressif. Et d’autres espèces étrangères sont désormais présentes dans les eaux tunisiennes, menaçant leur fragile équilibre écologique.
